The race took place on 1st April 2012 at Belton House Grantham. We were able to run the race here by kind permission of The National Trust to whom we are very grateful for allowing us all into the beautiful parkland which surrounds Belton House.
This year we raised £200 for the charity Spinal Research. Our patron perfectly joined up the three aspects of the day's event. She is a rider, someone with a deep interest in spinal research and this year is going to do the London Marathon. Not that unique a set of interests but Claire is an extraordinary woman who was paralysed in a horse riding accident and is defying the odds in her battle to walk again after becoming the first person in the UK to use a bionic suit.

Claire Lomas may be paralysed from the chest down but that has not stopped her from setting the staggering challenge of walking the 2012 Virgin London Marathon to raise £50,000 for Spinal Research using a ReWalk suit.
The former event rider, who had her accident during an event in 2007, took her first tentative steps using the revolutionary walking aid at a clinic in Hull in late January.
She has not set herself a target time to complete the 26.2 mile challenge but expects it could take her up to two weeks to complete the course.
A spokesman for Spinal Research said: “It’s the first time anyone has attempted to walk the marathon when paralysed and we are so glad Claire came to us saying she wanted to raise funds for our charity.”
