“Couch to 5K” and “10 Weeks to 10K”

The beginners group is held on Monday and Wednesday evenings and we’re lucky enough to have a number of qualified and enthusiastic coaches and run leaders to help you achieve your running goals, whatever they may be. All of our UKA coaches and run leaders are UK Athletics trained and CRB checked. You can meet us here.

You set the pace and distance, so don’t be put off if you’ve just started out. Our goal is to let you set your own targets and help to you achieve them, without getting an injury.

Our beginner’s sessions are split into three phases:

  • Warm up – we always start with a gentle dynamic warm up with various drills to get your heart rate up and your muscles ready for the main session.
  • Main session - We will tailor the main session to your ability and usually split the group depending the sort of distance you’d like to run on the night.
  • Cool down - we’ll take you through a series of stretching exercises to help you cool down gradually and improve your flexibility. This will help to prevent you feeling the after effects of your run and prevent injury.

Meet at the Grantham Tennis Club, Gonerby Rd, Gonerby Hill Foot, Grantham NG31 8HU on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 18:40 for initial registration and a discussion of your starting point. We begin the warm-up at 18:45. If you want more information please email us.

Spring Beginners Course – 1 April 2019

Each spring, Grantham Running Club holds a Couch to 5k and 10 Weeks to 10k beginners programme, aimed specifically at those of you just starting out on your running journey.

This year, our spring beginner’s programme starts on 1 April. Registration is £10, which includes 10 weeks of training and a graduation BBQ and technical-tshirt.

Age and previous experience are no barrier as the graduates of our previous beginner’s course will tell you.
