Favourite race: Either Woodhall Spa 10k because its got just enough changes of scenery to keep it interesting or Wellingborough Multi Terrain series probably because it's the first real race I entered.
Least Favourite race: The Louth part of the XC series mostly because I never seem to do as well as I think I should.
Why did you start running? I started running after I took one of my sons to do his first 10k and thought the atmosphere was welcoming and friendly so thought I would give it a go. Had previously had knee injuries from too much badminton which I had to stop a few years earlier, so running wasn't an obvious choice. However I think because there is little twisting involved all went well. I joined GRC so that the added bit of commitment and the people I met would spur me on to continue. The exertion of running and being able to meet different people is a fantastic stress buster.
Injuries received?: Thankfully none, which is surprising really as I am not the best at warming up or post run stretches.
Furthest Distance ran?: Manchester Marathon which I loved but in reality haven't got the time to be able to keep up that level of training.
Trainers worn: Without a doubt Saucony, they fit me straight out of the box.
Top tip from your experience: If you travel about for work carry your kit everywhere in your car and make time to run in different areas visited. It keeps the interest up.
How many miles do you run per week? Probably about 15 at the moment. Less than I would like to but hopefully I'll have more time in Autumn / Winter
GRC was formed during the summer of 2010 by a group of runners
ranging from the complete novice to the seasoned club runner.
Since forming we have been a vibrant, growing club with almost
200 members and three UKA licensed coaches and twelve UKA licensed run leaders . We hope that joining not only
improves the times and enjoyment from your running but also introduces
you to new friends and the activities we take part in.
