It was a cold brisk day, but at least the sun was out, a day for gloves and sunglasses. 500 runners started at 11am on a narrow single track road. However, it seemed to go fine.
A 2 lap 15 miles is a bit unusual, but good training for spring marathons. The course was well marshalled, which was just as well as some of the roads were still icy in places. The first of the six inclines was at 1.6 miles, and was soon followed by the second incline at 3 miles. This was followed by a long flat run and a nice descent to the 6 mile mark, where the third hill was waiting.
It was a good feeling getting to the half way point where you knew you had to do it all again, 3 more hills, and it was good to get to the top of the last one.
The winning time was 1:19:15, by Aaron Scott of Notts AC, and the first female was Tracey McCartney of Nene Valley Harriers with a time of 1:37:38.
