Christmas Eve Social Run
This tradition was started by Grantham Athletics Club back in 1985, in recent years Grantham Running Club has taken over the organising of the event. There were a couple of rules for the destination pub
Serves Real Ale
Has a good fire
Serve good food
Runners congregate at a members house or other location for tea/coffee and mince pies before heading off. Clothes to change into at the destination are dropped off here and transported to the pub. The run is approximately 11 miles with a shorter run joining from approximately 5 miles, participants generally dress up as Father Christmas or other Chritmas characters. Plenty of photo opportunities along the way. The route tries to use off road paths, old railway line to minimise the distance on roads.
Below is a list of the pubs the run has terminated at for some drinks and food for those that what to stay. Some how each year we all manage to get back home.
