Robin Atter August 2023

Runner Up

First on the pedestal is an enigma within our club – on form he is known for his speed and never far away from the top of the tree. Conversely, he also dances on the edge of a volcano and is never far away from the doctors waiting room…
August he was on fireyaaaaah!

Bassingham Bash set the tempo.
First to cross the finish line for the club in superb time of 28:10 it saw him FINALLY secure an 80% age graded performance (80.75%). It also claimed him his first County Championship medal, winning bronze in the MV40 age category. Barely a week later he was at Sleaford to capitalise on the form: first back for the club in 36:31, it netted him 7th place overall.

August’s Runner up is Joaquim Jeronimo. ‘Flash’ to everyone!

Winner:

Without much further ado we crown our Winner of Member of the Month for August.

Controlling his sheer horror at the ghastly conditions, he got into his work and head down at the Little Dipper 15-mile trail challenge to fairly belt round in 2:46:25. This netted him 17th place all told.

There was more to come. Much more.

A week later and in much more favourable weather, in familiar conditions he ran what purports to be his pièce de resistance of his racing career thus far; The Newark Half Marathon.

Realising a three-year long target, he was in control from the very get go. Pacing on point. Temperament on point. Fuelling on point. Cadence dialled in. Heart rate in check.

Nailed it.

At the finish he could scarcely believe it. Clocking in 01:28:59, obliterating his hitherto PB by a massive four-minutes…
… be upstanding for Robin Atter!
