Spilsby Show 10K

The Spilsby Show took place over the weekend in Lincolnshire and featured a 10K trail race hosted by Skegness and District Running Club.

With the start and finish being placed in the heart of the show ground, the race had a great atmosphere being surrounded by a heavy horse show, vintage vehicles dog shows and crowds.

Around 180 runners lined up to take on the trail route that headed across a farmyard and out to country tracks including Grantham Running Club members Brian Hawkins and Anna Harding.

Brian raced out for mile one at a pace too quick for a 10k trail; so slowed a little to settle into a good rhythm. Anna went out equally too fast, so slowed down and decided to not look at her watch and just run!

There were a couple of challenging inclines, especially a nice long one for the last mile on tired legs. The event was an enjoyable morning race; relaxed with lots of smiling faces and something a bit different as a race village. Brian came in 6th place and 1st MV40; 38:28 and Anna 11th female, 3rd FV45-49; 51:41.
