February 2024 – Joaquim Jeronimo

February saw Grantham Running Club celebrate the achievements of all the club members throughout 2023 and it also saw the end of the cross-country season.

GRC was represented by 42 runners in 5 races with 3 of them being road races and the other 2 cross country fixtures.

Nominees

We start with our first nominee; men’s captain Samuel Jepson lead the line for GRC in the cross-country fixtures. Firstly, finishing in 2nd place at the Stroxton fixture and then finishing 7th at the Louth fixture. We’re still awaiting official league results, but it could be a top 3 placing overall for Samuel.

Our next nominee is prolific race Caroline Davis , who participated in 4 races in February. Caroline raced in both cross-country fixtures with Caroline placing 1st & 4th in her age category. Alongside these races, Caroline also ran the Rauceby Ripper and the Stamford 30k.

Our last nominee is Zoë Wragg, who raced the Stamford 30k as part of her marathon training. Zoe crossed the line in 2:50:34 breaking the 3hr mark and giving Zoe a 9:59 minute PB.

Runner up

Our runner up for February is Peter Bonner who ran in 3 races this month. Peter clocked 40:41 at the Stroxton XC fixture and got a 70+ age grading at the Stamford 30K. Peter’s standout performance came at the Rauceby Ripper, where he finished in 5th place with a time of 1:00:53.

Winner

Your member of the month for February, it’s a case of déjà vu, Joaquim Jeronimo arrived at the Stamford 30k with the aim of breaking the 2hr barrier and smashed it, finishing in a time of 1:58:44 which is a 1min 34sec pb.

Congrats to Joaquim Jeronimo A.K.A Flash on being Feb’s member of the month.
