Exciting news! – this year we have a new location with a brand new course which means there is a new course record to set! Friday 19th June 2026 will mark the 14th occasion of this midsummer evening 10km road race organised by Grantham Running Club.
Check out our video for the lowdown:
The Route
Starting and finishing in the Village of Ropsley, runners will take in the scenic villages of Little Humby, Sapperton & Braceby whilst running on quiet rural lanes. While not pancake flat, the accurately measured course is expected to deliver some Personal and Seasons Bests.

It is also an ideal course to attempt your first 10k race, with chip timing and a limit of 500 runners. All finishers receive a custom medal.
Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishers – male & female. Prizes will be given to male / female age category winners V40, V50, V60 & V70+
Race HQ will be held at the Village Hall where runners and spectators can expect the same buzz and atmosphere as all previous events.
After assembling at Race HQ at Ropsley Village Hall, runners will be walked across the playing field to the start line on Ropsley Road. The finish is on Bracey Road with a flat and fast final kilometre stretch to the finish line. We will have pacers available to help you chase down that PB.
The course has been officially measured.
Minimum age for runners is 17 years.
Please see Terms and Conditions.

Race Day Information
The race will start at 7:30pm prompt. There will be a rolling road closure for most of the route in the direction of the race, please be aware that vehicles can travel on the other side of the road.
Number Collection: As race numbers are collected on the night, please allow time for this.
Runners will be required to run in accordance with the Highway Code and in single file wherever possible.
If you witness a fellow runner injured, or in difficulty, please make sure a marshal is informed before you continue your run.
The start is situated a few hundred metres from Race HQ and will be clearly signed. There are no toilets at the start area. Toilets are available at race HQ. The start area will remain live to traffic until the road closure is put in place at 7:20pm. Runners who get to the start prior to this time are requested not to block the road and to assemble in the playing field adjacent. To help ensure a smooth start we will indicate time boxes at the roadside.
Once the race has started, runners will have the use of both carriageways for approximately 200 metres, after which you will be guided onto the nearside carriageway only. Runners are asked to run on the left-hand side throughout the race. This is for your own safety and is the shortest route round the course.
The finish line is just before the gateway as you re-enter Race HQ. There will be a gantry making it clearly visible. When you finish, please move off the carriageway onto the village hall grounds, along the funnel. Here you will be passed water, have your timing chip removed and be awarded your finishers medal.
Cutoff
There is a 90 minute cutoff for the race. There will be tailrunners at the back to keep everyone encouraged and going. Finishers after 90 minutes may not get an official chip timed result or get to finish under the gantry due to road closures ending. They will still get a finishers medal and be cheered back into race HQ.
Headphones
The wearing of headphones is strictly prohibited and any runners found wearing them will be disqualified.
Transfers
Please note we do not operate a transfer or waiting list for this event.
