Grim Reaper

The bank holiday weekend saw Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire providing the backdrop to the Grim Reaper endurance running events.  Competitors undertook various distances from 10, 40, 70 and 100 miles on a 10 mile loop around the estate.  The route challenged runners with a mix of estate roads, limestone tracks and grass trails and there was plenty of mud to contend with.

3 members of Grantham Running Club took part in the 10 mile.  Daniel Wallace was first back in 1:32:02 and first in his category.  Next was Rachel Deans in 1:59:01 then Catherine Wallace in 2:06:28.

Cementing his place as a bona fide ultra runner was Dale Towning who took part in the 40 mile event, his longest ever race.  Clearly in his element he enjoyed every moment, finishing with plenty of fuel in the tank in 9 hours, 26 minutes and 14 seconds.  He finished in 29th place.

This event formed part of his preparation for his main goal this year which is the 100km Race to the Stones endurance event in the summer.
