Julie Riggall, Aug 21

Races are well and truly up and running again now and August’s race performances proved that we’re very much back in business.

Stuart Baty is one nomination that is having an outstanding season. His 5k run at Chase the Sun races was a 47s PB, his 2nd PB at the distance this season.

Robin Atter exceeded his own expectations at the Chase the Sun races with his debut 10k time of 41:43. This was followed by an outstanding 31:48 debut at the Bassingham Bash 5. Exciting times ahead for Robin who is certain to win this award in months to come!

Dean Riggall dipped his toes into track racing with his debut race over 5000m. Coming back from injury struggles he played this race down at the start, predicting a sub 20min run. His time of 18:22 proves that Dean has no idea how much of a talented runner he is!

Simon Hartley is another nominee who’s having a brilliant season. His 5k time of 29:07 at the Chase the Sun races was a 2min 30s PB. This was followed by another PB at Bassingham. His time of 49:17 beats his previous best by an enormous 5mins.

Joint runners up for August are two ladies who are in the form of their lives, clocking fast times at Thorney 5 – Yvonne Buckley and Kate Marshall. Yvonne’s time of 48:54 at was her best ever race after 10 years of racing. Kate’s time of 45:16 represents a massive nearly 2min PB and is also her best ever performance. Both ladies would have certainly run quicker at the faster Bassingham Bash course.

August Member of the Month

This brings us nicely on to August’s winner. After a long layoff this performance seemed to come from nowhere. The Chase the Sun 10k provided the perfect enclosed venue for this lady to run a massive 2min 3Os PB in her first race in over 2 years. Absolutely motoring to the finish, she couldn’t believe her eyes upon looking at the watch. Congratulations to August’s winner, Julie Riggall.
