2026 Cross Country Events

Although it’s still the height of summer, the cross country season will soon be upon us. The club competes in two leagues – the North Midlands and Lincolnshire Leagues.

Please see below some of the fixture dates for your diaries.

North Midlands Cross Country League

10 October – Markeaton Park, Derby
14 November – West Glebe Park, Corby
5 December – Shipley Park, Heanor
16 Jan 2027 – Bullwell Hall Park, Nottingham

Any member of GRC can participate in the various XC fixtures as long as, if you’re a female, you can run 6K, and men, 10K.
The North Midlands League is popular and lots of clubs from around the region take part making for very well supported races with plenty of competition.

If you are relatively new to the club, you are very welcome to come and give it a go. There is no need to worry about not being really competitive, just come and do it for yourself and GRC – whatever your finishing position you will score points for the team. The fixtures make an enjoyable Saturday afternoon out and there are some quite impressive athletes to watch in the process.

The Lincolnshire XC League is more low key and as yet there are no confirmed dates for the fixtures which take place on Sunday mornings.

As a club we need to support this local league, so please give it a try.

Cross country adds variation to your training and the bonus of your GRC membership is that the club funds your XC participation.
Please let Sarah High know if you are interested in taking part. Reminders will be posted prior to each fixture.

Additionally, there are also the National XC Relays which take place on Saturday 7th November (tbc) in Mansfield. Again, this is open to all GRC members as long as ladies, you can run 3K, and gents, you can run 5K. This event is well worth going to just to see some of the top athletes in the country in action. Further details will follow.

Any questions, please let Sarah High or Russel Whittaker know.
