April saw the opening of marathon season within the club with 29 members competing in 5 races at the marathon distance. With London, Manchester, Boston, Guernsey and The Tissington trail all enticing GRC runners. April also saw the continuation of the club GP series with the ever popular 10k race at Lincoln, and also a couple of European races with the Rhodes Half Marathon and the Proteas 10k race.
Nominees
Riley M-Magan has been nominated for his excellent debut at the marathon distance in London. Riley gained his place through Grantham Athletic Club and didn’t disappoint, finishing in a time of 3:09:59.
Jo Grace has been nominated for an excellent time at the Boston marathon, especially in the windy conditions. Her time of 3:58:37 came after a strong training block and Jo didn’t let car problems on her way to Boston dampen her race.
Rob Howbrook has been nominated for an excellent result at the Lincoln 10k. Rob rolled back the years to produce a superb finish time of 42:46, producing an impressive age grade of over 83%.
Paul Scott produced an age grade of 77.53% at the London marathon when he finished in a time of 3:13:47.
Runner Up
The runner up for April is Caroline Davis. Caroline took part in the Big Loop 100 mile race at Sherwood Pines. This consisted of running 10 loops around the forest. To her amazement, Caroline finished as first female in a time of 25:18:11, which was a 2 hour PB. Just 1 week later, Caroline then completed the virtual London Marathon at the Tissington Trail in a time of 4:19:15. Paul Davis

Winner
For the third consecutive year, your April Member Of The Month Winner is Gavin Potter. Gav decided to run back to back marathons this year.
This was rewarded firstly at Manchester with a time of 2:45:16, and followed up a week later at London with a time of 2:52:49. Incredible times within 7 days of each other.
