March saw a variety of race distances covered by 79 members of the club. We saw the latest rounds of the club GP series take place with the Half Marathons at Scunthorpe (North Lincs), and at Retford. GRC were all in the holiday spirit when 33 members descended on Malta for the Valletta 10k and Half Marathon. We also saw Half Marathons at Lisbon and Stafford, along with 20 mile races at Oundle, Ashby, and Twin Lakes at Milton Keynes.
Nominees
Nicci Whittaker has been nominated for her incredible efforts in the Valletta 10k race. Nicci went into the race on the back of an excellent training block and was rightly pleased to earn herself a new official PB of 51:38. Taking 6 minutes and 38 seconds off her previous best.
Jo Grace was also nominated for her amazing training effort this spring, using the Ashby 20 and North Lincs Half Marathon as very good preparation for her Boston marathon in April.
Tracey Gell achieved an impressive 61% age grading for her race abroad in Malta and was nominated for her commitment and effort to racing for the club.
Runner Up
The runner up for March is Holly Wragg. Since finding out she received the GRC Club ballot place for the London marathon this year, Holly has been incredibly determined and focused on her training. This dedication paid off in Valletta where Holly was the first GRC lady home in the 10k race in 48:42, taking 2 minutes off her personal best.

Winner
Your winner of the March Member Of The Month is Jake Richardson. It goes without saying, Jake is a massive asset to GRC, and he put us on the European map by taking overall victory in the Valletta 10k race in Malta.
His time of 32:57 secured him an age grade of over 81%, and also smashes the GRC club record. This one could stand for a while …. or until he breaks it again.
Congratulation Jake, Holly and all the other nominees!
