The LWAC 5K Series consists of four races held at Yarborough, Lincoln. The event forms part of the Grantham Running Club Grand Prix, where members can run any or all of the races, with their fastest 5K time counting towards their GP score.
Race 1 took place in the middle of a heatwave, and conditions were far from ideal. With the threat of a storm building, the wind suddenly picked up just before the start — only to drop again shortly after the finish. This brief blast of wind made the race that little bit tougher for everyone taking part.
A total of 11 GRC members lined up for the opening race, all running brilliantly and putting down some impressive early‑series times.
Personal Bests
Three runners achieved official 5K personal bests: Riley Maksymiw-Magan — 59‑second PB, Addelle Pattison — 1 minute 08‑second PB & Nicci Whittaker — 1 minute 29‑second PB. A special mention for Niall Ó Faoláin who completed his first official 5K race.
Just 7 seconds separated the first four GRC finishers — a clear sign that the title of club 5K champion is wide open and could go in several directions as the series progresses.

Race 2 takes place on Tuesday 30th June 2026, where the competition — but hopefully not the weather — will heat up even more.
