In August, GRC was represented by 39 runners in 6 races. The month also saw a big turnout for two of the GP series races being the Sleaford 10k and the Bassingham Bash 5 mile. The final races in the LWAC and Peterborough 5K series event also took place this month.
Nominees
We start with the incredible Catherine Payne, who again put in a great performance at both 5k series events, running the LWAC race in 21:57 and the Peterborough race in 22:13. Both races scored Catherine an age grading of 83 & 84%.
Next, we have Matthew Kingston-Lee, who started the month with a great performance at the Bassingham Bash 5 mile race, clocking an impressive time of 29:36, which happened to fall on the 2 year anniversary of his heel and Achilles surgery. He followed that up later in the month at the LWAC 5k race, crossing the line in 17:41. Both performances gave Matthew a gold age grading standard of 81 & 82%.
Runner Up
Our runner up for August is Hannah Whittaker. Hannah firstly ran a great race at the Sleaford 10k, finishing 1st in her age category and then later ran a new pb at the LWAC 5k race clocking 21:10 beating her previous best time set at the GRC 5k race.
Member of the Month
Winners
We have a tie this month, so your first Member of the Month is Jo Grace, who took on the Curlys Big School 12 hours race where you can either race as a solo or as a team and try and complete as many 5k laps as you can within 12 hours.
Jo decided to do it alone and keen to embrace a new challenge and discover how far she could go; Jo managed an amazing 18 laps (57 miles) in 11:47:56. Jo’s efforts also saw her finish as 2nd female.
Our 2nd Member of the Month is Sam Caton. Sam has been chipping away at his 10k time throughout the year and beat it again at the Sleaford 10k race, setting a new pb of 50:37 which is an 8:56 course pb from last year’s race just to show you how much Sam has improved in just 12 months.

Congratulations to Jo and Sam, our Members of the Month for August
