LWAC – Race 4

The Lincoln Wellington Athletics Club (LWAC) 5K Series consists of four races held at Yarborough Sports Ground in Lincoln. The series also forms part of the Grantham Running Club Grand Prix, giving members the opportunity to run any or all of the races, with their fastest 5K time counting towards their Grand Prix score.

The fourth and final race took place in slightly cooler conditions than the previous three events — much to the relief of the runners! Despite a slight breeze, conditions were arguably the best of the series for chasing a PB.

The final instalment saw the biggest turnout from GRC across the series, with an impressive 15 members taking to the start line.

As with every event in the series, there was plenty to celebrate, with some fantastic performances and achievements all round. Adelle Pattison ran a strong 24:26, taking an impressive 16 seconds off her previous LWAC race time from May to secure a new PB. Susan Copping, competing in her first and only race of the series, certainly made it count! Finishing in 25:04, Susan took an impressive 15 seconds off her PB.

Sam Jepson and Zoe Wragg both put in strong performances on the night, with both runners recording season-best times.
.
Special congratulations go to Nicci Whittaker, Russel Whittaker, Marjorie Spendlow, David Poole and Sam Jepson, who all completed the full series of four races.

A fantastic way to round off the LWAC 5K Series — well done to everyone who took part and represented GRC!
