On Saturday 16th May, Grantham Running Club turned Rutland Water green as 48 members lined up for the first parkrun in this year’s GP Championship.
The Rutland Water course is a favourite for PB chasers: flat, fast, and scenic. Starting at the beautiful Normanton Church, runners follow the reservoir edge, head out across the dam, then turn around and head back to the church. Conditions were kind overall, though the headwind on the return stretch made sure nobody had it too easy. Despite that, the club delivered a fantastic morning of running, with 14 members clocking either course PBs or all time parkrun PBs.
PB’s were earned by: Addelle Pattison, Agnes Van Rheinberg, Ashley Bailey, Georgia Green, Jaimie Lord, Jessica Guest, Julia Hallam, Kate Marshall, Martin Carter, Matthew Sadler, Niall O’Faolain, Nicci Whittaker, Sophie Carley & Tracy Webb.
Joaquim Jeronimo “Flash” was the first GRC runner across the finish line, while Sophie Carley claimed first lady back for the club.
