Anna O’Hare, Dec 2014

Age: 25

Occupation: Teacher

Years Running: 17, though I only started thinking about it and training more efficiently a few years ago.

Favourite/ Least Favourite race: I haven’t run enough races to have favorites yet. I enjoy the Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest 10k obstacle course races though.

Why did you start running: I joined the primary school XC team in the winter of ’97 and since then it has become something I have always done. I can’t remember why I started training more  efficiently. I think I had spare time on my hands at university. Also, when I lived in London, I used to run to and from work and I found that if I planned out what I was doing and ensured there was some quality to my running, I got more out of it.

Injuries: Shin splints and I sometimes have problems with my Achilles- both due to not warming up sufficiently.

Trainers worn: Asics.

Favourite running kit: My hat.

Top tips from my experience: Warm up properly. Also, don’t worry about targets and times and that too much but run because you enjoy it.

How many miles per week running: About 25.
