August – Peter Jennings

The month of August saw GRC represented 66 times duringt the summer month of racing. The club Grand Prix series continued with the 5 mile Bassingham Bash and the Sleaford 10k road race. August also saw the conclusion of both the Peterborough 5k series and the Lincs Wellington 5k series, which have both been well represented by GRC runners over the summer months. The Newark Half Marathon and Dovedale Dipper were followed by the multi lap events at Leeds and Sandringham.

Runner up
The Runner up for August is our very own Chairlady, Sylv Hull. Sylv ventured into unknown territory competing in a multi lap ultra event, The Leeds Ultra Loop. The aim was to complete as many 5k laps as possible before the 8 hour cut off. Sylv managed a brilliant 10 laps, covering 50k. On top of this, Sylv also ran in the final LWAC event bagging herself a new 5k pb of 24:28.

Winner
Our August Member of the Month is Peter Jennings.

Peter is the epitome of consistency and seemingly never has an off day. This was hugely evident at Dovedale where Peter was the sole GRC representative of the 27 mile ‘Big Dipper’. Peter finished with a huge 17 minute pb in 5:08:35, placing him first in his age category.
Congratulations to Peter, Sylv and all those nominated!
