July 2024 – Dale Towning

This July, GRC was represented by 97 runners taking part in 14 races with a big turn out for the GRC 5k race and 2 races on the GP series being the Whissendine 6ix and Heckington 10 mile race. July also saw runners taking part in the 3rd& 4th race in the Peterborough 5k series and the 3rd LWAC 5k race.

Nominees

We start with Hannah Whittaker, who started the month with a pb at the GRC 5k, gaining a 6 second PB with 21:18. Hannah followed this up with a 1st in her age category at the Whissendine 6ix running in 43:27. Hannah ended the month with a strong performance at the Heckington 10 mile race with a time of 1:15:58.

Next we go to Riley M-Magan, who ran his first official 5k race breaking the 19 minute mark for the first time in a time of 18:59. This is 1min5sec better than his best parkrun time.

We next have Catherine Payne, who again, put in some great times at both the Peterborough 5K series, running 21:53 at the Werrington event and 22:00 at the Stamford event.

Runner Up

Our runner up for July is Brian Hawkins, who came 1st in his age category at the Spilsby show 10k running in 38:28. Brian then followed this up with a 23 second pb at the Heckington 10 mile race clocking a time of 63:06.

Winner

Our member of the month for July is someone who has spent most of the year training for his big event taken part this month. Putting all his hours of training runs and ultra races in prep to great use, Dale Towning is the member of the month for July for his performance at the Race to the Stones 100k. Dale clocked an epic 16:59:25 to complete the 100k race.
