In November, GRC was represented by 149 runners in 16 races. The month started with a big turnout in the national cross country relays at Berry Hill park in Mansfield. November saw large GRC turnouts for the Grand Prix series events. The Derby 10 mile race and the Doncaster 10k. The month ended with the GRC contingent taking over Benidorm for the weekend, with 37 taking part in both 10k and half marathon races.
Nominees
Dale Towning has been nominated for his participation in the Warrington Way 40 mile event. Dale managed to complete the course with a massive 1 hour PB.
Piers Pye-Watson continued his excellent form of late, with a very impressive performance in the Derby 10 mile race. His time of 58:24 produced an excellent age grading of above 77% and made him the fastest GRC runner of the day.
Jack Holroyd is a newer member to the club having thrown himself into cross country racing with a willingness to ‘get involved’, he has bagged himself a place on the nomination list too. Cross country running is often overlooked by newer runners but Jacks’ efforts have not gone unnoticed.
Runner Up
Novembers runner up is Sarah High. Carrying on from previous years, Sarah takes on the organisation of the cross country within the club. This is no small task and one that is very much appreciated within the club. As well as organising, Sarah also participated in 2 cross country events in November. The national relays, and the Corby event in the North Midlands league. Not one to rest, Sarah also finished the Derby 10 mile and the Doncaster 10k with 78+% age gradings.
Winner
For November our winner is Russel Whittaker. Russel started the month leading the A-Team at the national cross country relays at Berry Hill Park, where he was the fastest GRC runner at the event. Then came the Doncaster 10k. Russel managed to bag himself a new PB of 35:41 with an incredible age grading of 81.43%.
Congratulations to Russel, Sarah, and all the nominees for their great efforts in November.
