Buxton Half Marathon

On Sunday 28th May Mark Carter was the sole representative for Grantham Running Club in the Buxton Half Marathon.

This was only his third half marathon and the first on open roads. Mark wanted to gain the experience of running in hilly terrain and can confirm that the course was definitely in that category!

Soon after the start, there was a 4.7km uphill slog out of Buxton which certainly woke the legs up! Though the event wasn’t Mark’s fastest half marathon, he learnt much in terms of a varying gradient and pace which will certainly be beneficial in the future.

Mark was pleased to complete the event in a chip time of 2:16:10 and enjoyed the beautiful views of the countryside during the run.

The half marathon event itself was part of a larger family day funfair event at the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton and it was great to see families enjoying themselves and cheering the runners on.
