In December, GRC was represented by 71 runners in 7 races, in what was a fairly quiet month for the club. It started with the local cross country event at Stroxton, and the conclusion of the club’s Grand Prix series, with the Keyworth Turkey Trot Half Marathon and Doddington Hall Parkrun.
Nominees
Peter Jennings concluded his running year still on excellent form in December with two highly consistent performances in both the Lincolnshire Cross Country fixture at Stroxton and the North Midland League fixture at Heanor. This was then backed up with a sub 22 minute park run at Doddington Hall gaining an impressive 73% age grading.
Addelle Towning was nominated for her run at the Holme Pierrepont 10k race. Addelle produced her second sub-60 minute performance securing herself a new PB. This result was made even more spectacular as it was following the club’s Christmas party the night before!
Runner up
Our December runner up is David Poole. David’s consistent training in the second half of the year has seen big improvements in his running times. This was never more evident when he ran 90:01 at a very windy Holme Pierrepont Half Marathon. There are sure to be further improvements from David in 2025.
Winner
The winner of member of the month for December is Jaimie Lord. Jaimie graduated from the ‘Begin to run’ class earlier this year and since then has thrown himself into all things GRC. At Doddington Hall Parkrun, Jaimie ran a massive 7 minute PB compared with his previous time set back in July at the GRC 5k.
