This magnificent seven was made up of four hardened veterans and three newcomers to the 24-hour team event. Together, the team completed 21 laps.
Andrew Footitt, arriving later in the day completed two laps. Holly Wragg, Emma Duncan, Judi Allsopp and Agnes Van Rheinberg each completed three laps, while Jaimie Lord and Russell Maksymiw powered through four laps apiece.
First out for the team was Holly, who after ditching the pink wig from the Beer Mile, was happy with her efforts, recording two sub-60-minute laps and taking the third steady in the dark.
Next up was Jaimie, taking part in the team event for the very first time. Clearly keen to ditch his L-plates, he found sixth gear and recorded his fastest lap of the weekend in an impressive 57:53.
Emma was next to take the baton and despite feeling unwell during one of her laps, dug deep and kept the wheels turning for the team. Emma denies all allegations that the Aperol Spritz and beer mile pint played any part in her illness.
Judi then successfully navigated the course this year, avoiding any unexpected detours. While her first lap was a windy, hot and tough affair, she enjoyed her second and third laps and safely arrived back at base without consulting Google maps.
After eventually tearing him away from the megaphone, Russell put in a series of solid laps, with his quickest clocking in at 49:09. Clearly Scooby-Doo was keen to get back to Shaggy as quickly as possible.
Next up was Agnes, making her Equinox24 team debut. After emerging from her pink tent, she wasted no time in recording a 49:52 on her first lap and clocking the fastest hill climb for the team. Pink and you’ll miss her!
Arriving later in the day, Andrew faced the daunting challenge of completing both of his laps in the dark on a course he had never run before. Thankfully, he resisted the temptation to follow team-mate Judi’s navigation strategy and avoided getting lost.
As always, the event showcased the very best of team spirit. Every member of the team commented on the incredible effort, encouragement and support received from both their teammates and the wider club throughout the weekend.
