January 2026 – Jo Grace

January saw GRC represented 36 times in a cold and miserable month for running. There were 10k races on offer at Oundle and not so sunny Skegness. The cross country season continued with the Lincolnshire championships at Biscathorpe, and the North Midland league held their annual event at Bulwell Hall. The first event of the Club Championship series took place around the streets of Folksworth for their 15 mile event.

Nominees
Craig Drury seems to come into his own during the cross country season, bringing grit and determination, he’s a brilliant asset to the club, competing at both Biscathorpe and Bulwell Hall. Craig also put a strong training block to use with a great effort at Folksworth.

Belinda Baker has been nominated for her positive attitude and consistency in training. Belinda is inspiring to many women in the club and is planning on completing many marathons over the course of 2026.

Runner Up
Our January runner up is Caroline Davis. Caroline has been described as “Mrs Consistent” and this Lady would run forever if she was allowed. Caroline took part in the Rasslebock Winter run, where she completed 6 laps (37 miles), and only 2 weeks later she participated in the Clumber Lakeside 6 hour event completing 7 laps (31.3 miles).

Winner
Our winner for January is Jo Grace. Jo took part in the Skegness 10k. Undeterred at the prospect of running around a caravan park, Jo smashed her 10k pb and came home in a time of 48:12. Jo has had a strong start to 2026 so watch this space for more achievements.

Congratulations to Jo, Caroline and the other nominees!
