May saw GRC represented by 73 runners in 19 races throughout the month. There was also a big turnout for two of the club’s GP series races; the Langtoft 10k and Beeston 5. It was also the first LWAC 5k race of the series.
Nominees
We start with Dale Towning, following on from his 35-mile run last month, Dale raced the Grimsthorpe Gallop (40 miles) as part of his training for his upcoming 100k race. Dale put his practice to good use, finishing in 09:26:14, cementing his place as a bona fide ultra runner.
Another ultra runner nominee is Caroline Davis, who following running 2 marathons in April, ran the Dukeries 40 miles race in 08:01:06.
Next, we have Catherine Thompson, who ran a new PB at the Langtoft 10K with 55:13, which is a 33 second PB from her previous best time set at the Lincoln 10K.
We have 2 runner ups for this month. First, we have Emma Duncan, who ran a new PB at the Langtoft 10K, clocking 51:29, beating her old PB set at 2023’s Sleaford 10K by 2min 22secs.
Our second runner up is Paul Jepson, who had a busy running calendar, running in 4 races in May. He first ran the Langtoft 10K in 51:47, the Beeston 5 in 41:13, then the LWAC 5K in 25:10. Paul also won his age category at the Market Deepings 10K, running in 52:29.
Winner
Our member of the month for May is a relatively new member to the club. After finally joining GRC after a bit of gentle persuasion, Jack Heathershaw debuted the green and black top at the Langtoft 10K where he ran a great race, finisging in an amazing time of 38:35.
Congratulations to Jack and all other nominees
