April 2024 – Gav Potter

April saw GRC represented by 101 runners in 14 races with 31 also members taking part in their chosen marathons.

Nominees:

We start first with Andrea Ward, who was the GRC ballot entry in the London Marathon and ran a great race clocking 04:02:22 in her first ever marathon.

We next go to Riley Maksymiw-Magan, who broke his 10k PB at the Lincoln 10K by just over 5minutes with a time of 43:31.

Also running the Lincoln 10K was Clive George, who achieved a time of 42:19, which is a 1min17sec pb from his previous best time set last year at the Gainsborough and Morton 10K. This also earned him an 80+% age grading.

We have 2 nominees who both ran the Manchester Marathon.

Zoë Wragg, who should have run the 2022 marathon but had to pull out with an injury, smashed her previous best, completing in 04:11:53 which was a massive 46-minute PB.

Next, we have Andrew Devine, who broke his previous best time and went under the 3-hour barrier, clocking 02:56:49.

Another runner who broke their marathon PB is Jo Grace. Running the Boston Marathon in a time of 3:53:55, she beat her old PB by a massive 53 minutes, set only a year before at Edinburgh Marathon.

Our runner up for this month is Brian Hawkins who in his debut race for GRC at the Rutland Half Marathon, finished 2nd overall in a time of 1:25:50 and then a week later, ran a PB at the Lincoln 10K in 36:51.

Winner

The member of the month for April is Gavin Potter, who ran the Manchester Marathon in a amazing time of 02:45:15 which is a 13min19sec PB from last year’s race.

Well done Gavin and all other nominees
