Benidorm Half Marathon

Alongside the 10K-ers were the slightly more unhinged GRC members who opted for the half marathon in Benidorm.
First back was Paul Scott, in his first race for GRC and his first Benidorm Half. He found it a great event, though the last 5 miles were challenging. He finished in 1:35:10 and 23rd in his age category and is already looking forward to returning next year.

Next back for GRC was Kev Wallace who thoroughly enjoyed the event and the fantastic support. He loved the course, especially the run along the sea front and was happy to keep a very even pace throughout the whole race. He finished in 1:39:30, a massive 22-minute improvement on last year and a much more enjoyable experience.

Third back for GRC was Ross Warden, who set out aiming for a steady paced run. All went swimmingly for the first 10K, but an unfortunate choking episode at the water station made him unwell 17KM in. However, he still managed to finish the race a still respectable 1:45:54 and an improvement of 4 minutes on last years’ time.

Next back was Robin Atter who was making a return to running and as such just aimed to run for enjoyment. He crossed the line with a smile on his face and a time of 1:48:47 having overcome the outrage of being overtaken by a dinosaur.

Sam Caton repeated his flying visit to take part in the race, flying in that morning, running, then disappearing the next day. Enjoying the weather conditions and route, he started off slow and steady hitting consistent splits and fuelling perfectly leading, to a great time of 2:08:01 and a massive 5-minute improvement on last year.

For Mark Angeloni the event was about pacing a friend in his first ever race, getting him across the line in 2:20:56.
