Sunday 6 April 2025 saw the return of the very popular Jane Tomlinson’s City of Lincoln 10K race. There were over 4,700 runners that crossed the finish line.
Grantham Running Club was represented by 41 runners – a great turnout no doubt helped by the race being part of the club GP!
The start line was on Riseholme Road, outside the Yarborough Leisure Centre. The start time was slightly delayed by 10 minutes, but this did not stop the excitement and the atmosphere at the start line was electric.
The route was mainly around the Ermine area of Lincoln and the finish line was at the picturesque Lincoln Cathedral and Castle. The crowds on the day were incredible! All of the GRC runners were so thankful for the thousands of people who came out to line the route and cheer us on. There was even a choir around the halfway point, which was a great surprise.
The weather on the day was bright and dry. Some would say that it was perfect conditions. Others would say it was too warm. Either way, the sun was shining.
The first male runner across the finish line for GRC was the one and only, Gavin Potter, with a fantastic time of 37:37 – well done Gav! It was also Gav’s first time at this race.
The first female runner across the finish line for GRC was the amazing Catherine Payne, with a brilliant time of 44:18 which brought her in 4th in her age category – well done Catherine!
