Grizzly 2025 – Who Let The Bogs Out?

Around 2,000 runners completed the Grizzly race in Seaton, Devon in the glorious Spring sunshine on Sunday 9th March. The race is a punishing 20 miler across pebble beaches, rugged clifftop paths and muddy bogs. After weeks of rain and far too many grey days the conditions were excellent for the runners who set out from Seaton to tackle the challenge of the Grizzly races.

The tough multi-terrain race takes runners over to Beer then up to Beer Head before dropping down into Branscombe. The Grizzly Challenge then heads into the hills, bogs and valleys high above the picturesque villages.

Runners then head back with a river crossing and a tough beach section followed by the notorious “Stairway to Heaven” before the scenic return through Beer and on to the finish on Seaton Esplanade, covering an excess of 3000ft of climbing. The whole event was brilliantly organised by Axe Valley Runners and has now been running for 35 years has raised more than half a million pounds towards local and national charities.

Grantham Running Club was represented by Sophie Davies who was competing for the first time and completed the 20 miles in 3:49:32, 63rd female and 12th in her age group.
