May 2025 – Caroline Davis

May was a very competitive month for GRC with the club represented 120 times.

Races included 4 rounds of the grand prix series with the Langtoft 10K, Doddington Hall parkrun, Beeston 5 mile, and the first race of the Lincs Wellington 5k series at Yarborough. May also saw the conclusion of the spring marathon season with races in both Leeds and Milton Keynes.

Nominees

Riley Maksymiw-Magan has been nominated for an excellent new PB performance at Doddington Hall.
Joe Clarke continued his excellent form, running his first sub 36 minute 10K at Langtoft and an impressive 17:55 at the LWAC 5K.
Russel Whittaker impressed with 81% and nearly 82% age gradings at Doddington and Yarborough respectively.
Brian Hawkins proved how consistant his racing is by finishing around the 38 minute mark in both the Langtoft 10K and the Deepings 10K.
Sarah High has been nominated for excellent running earning an 81% age grading at Langtoft and just shy of 79% at Yarborough.
Catherine Payne again excelled in May with an 86% age grading at Langtoft followed by a nearly 89% grading at Yarborough.

Runner Up

The Runner up for May is someone who hasn’t raced for a while and has just been quietly getting on with training. Congratulations to Vicki Ball for her excellent return at Doddington Hall Parkrun, smashing her previous PB by nearly 2 minutes, finishing in a time of 22:30.

Winner

With so many excellent performances in May it was very difficult to chose a winner. This lady did stand out for her sheer determination and perseverance.

Caroline Davis completed 2 marathons at Leeds and Milton Keynes only a week apart. Most people would then rest a few weeks before running again. But not Caroline, she decided to run at Doddington a week later and secured a very impressive 75% age grading.

Congratulations to Caroline, Vicki and all the nominees for what was a very impressive month of racing for GRC.
