The month of October saw GRC represented 69 times. The major race of the month, and the continuation of the Grand Prix series, saw 33 of the green and black army descend on Peterborough for the Great Eastern Half Marathon. We saw cross country action at Markeaton and Cleethorpes. Marathons at Chicago, Chester and York, and further half marathons in Lincoln, Worksop, and Leicester.
Nominees
David Poole continued his impressive year by smashing a new PB at Peterborough. David broke the 80 minute barrier with a hugely impressive time of 1:18:23 and earning a silver+ age grading.
Holly Wragg has also been nominated for her impressive race at Peterborough. Holly arrived at the race unsure of how she would do. It turns out that she didn’t need to worry as she ran a perfectly paced negative split race of 1:47:57, achieving a 3 minute PB.
Runner Up
Our runner up for October is Caroline Davis (Paul Davis). Caroline was the sole representative for GRC at the Pumpkin Plod. This was a ultra-marathon multi lap event, held at Ferry Meadows. The aim was to complete as many laps as possible in 6 hours. Caroline completed 11 laps and finished in 4th place out of 254 finishers.

Winner
The Winner of Member Of The Month for October is Kev Wallace. Kev has been improving massively in recent months with his new consistent training and gym routine.
Never one to shy away from a race, Kev decided to enter 2 half marathons on consecutive weekends. The latter was at Leicester towards to end of October but it was his first race in Peterborough that definitely turned a few heads. Kev entered with confidence and an attitude of ‘I’m gonna go for it’ and it certainly worked as he gained a 4 minute PB in a time of 1:36:13. Kev’s first time under 1:40.
Congratulations to Kev, Caroline and all the nominees!
