September – Nicola Ruston-Litchfield

September saw GRC represented 99 times in a bumper month. The club held its annual club handicap race at Ropsley.

The club Grand Prix series continued with the Watermead Parkrun, which is always welcomed by our members.

4 members made the trip up North for the Great North Run, and at an event which seems to get better every year and 36 of our members descended on Belvoir Castle for the Equinox 24hour event.

Nominees

Russel Whittaker began the month with a 17:35 5k at Watermead Parkrun, earning him an 80% age grading. Then at Equinox Russel completed 6 consistent and fast laps as part of GRC’S A-Team.

Jo Grace followed up her impressive 5k time at Watermead Parkrun by taking on the Solo event at Equinox. Jo completed 12 laps of the undulating course, placing her GRC’s top solo performer through the 24 hours.

Catherine Payne continued her impressive season at Watermead Parkrun. Catherine finished in a very impressive 20:52, earning her a 90% age grading. Following this, Catherine went to Shelford for their annual 5k race. Catherine finished first in her age grade category and was 7th lady overall with a time of 21:17.

For Goodness Jake was the chosen name for GRC’s A-Team at Equinox24 this year. Consisting of Russel Whittaker (6 laps), Johnny Palmer (6 laps), Jake Richardson (4 laps), Riley M-Magan (4 laps), Peter Jennings (5 laps), Samuel Jepson (4 laps), and Nicola Ruston-Lichfield (4 laps), for the second year running they bagged a place on the podium with 3rd place.

Runner Up

The Runner up for September is Sarah High.

Sarah had a busy month in September competing in 3 events. Firstly, at the club handicap Sarah ran a very solid 10k in a time of 54:17, with a 75% age grade. Then at Watermead, Sarah ran a strong Parkrun in 25:53, gaining a 77% age grading. Finally at Shelford, Sarah ran a new personal best 5k time of 24:59, breaking the 25 minute barrier and gaining herself an age grade of 79%.

Winner

For the September Member Of the Month we have Nicola Ruston-Litchfield.

Nicola began the month at Watermead Parkrun. Entering this she had high hopes and certainly didn’t disappoint. Nicola gained a gold age grading standard of 81% with a time of 20:27. Later on in the month, Nicola was part of the successful GRC team at Equinox and completed 4 consistent laps to help the team finish in 3rd position overall.
