April 2025 – Gav Potter

Historically April is a notoriously difficult month to call for member of the month with the Spring Marathon season in full swing. GRC had the 26.2 mile distance covered in abundance this month, with Club representation in London, Manchester, Paris, Boston, and Brighton. Also in April we had the latest round of the Grand Prix series at the Lincoln 10k.

Nominees

Peter Bonner has been nominated for his amazing efforts at the London marathon. For the third year running, and probably in the hardest conditions, Peter finished in under 3 hours.

Mark Angeloni defied the Manchester heat and calf trouble to produce a new personal best marathon time of 3:37:29 earning himself a nomination too.

Also nominated was Jaimie Lord who took an amazing 13minutes off his previous best 10k time at the Lincoln 10k in early April, finishing in 53:46.

Runner Up

The Runner up for April is David Poole. David has been on an upward trajectory for a while now and this all came together on April 27th. While others were lining up on the start lines at Manchester and London, David rather quietly took himself off to Coventry for a hilly half marathon.

David himself described this as the race of his life, finishing in a massive new PB time of 1:23:31.

Winner

Gavin Potter set the bar high at his first ever London marathon following his good for age place achieved at Manchester in 2024. With temperatures described as ‘very hot’ Gavin ran a well paced run, leaving it all out there, gaining him an amazing new personal best of 2:44:56.

Congratulations to Gavin, David and all our nominees!
