Holkham 10K

A stone’s throw from Wells-next-the-Sea, the Outlaw Holkham multi-terrain 10K took place on the Saturday 4th July.
As part of the Outlaw Half weekend, the 10k attracts triathletes and runners alike, offering a multisport weekend in the stunning grounds of Holkham Hall.

Grantham Run Club members Sam Jepson, David Amos-Reeves and Lisa Udall took on the undulating 10K route, battling rocky farm roads, hills and rising temperatures, with the water stations a beacon of salvation as the race went on!

Sam, fresh from pacing the Whissendine 6ix the evening before, finished an impressive 12th out of 572 finishers in 41:25. He was pleased to have manoeuvered his way through the field deep into the race as the conditions took its toll on others.

Entrant-on-the-day, David crossed the line in 49:33, again feeling accomplished with battling the heat and surface underfoot.

Lisa (having raced Whissendine less than 18 hours before) finished in 1:05, finding this one of the toughest course’s she has run but has already promised to return next year and beat her time!

All three were rewarded with a descent to the famous orange carpet, a medal and most importantly a cold Erdinger alkoholfrei bier.

As the proximity dictates, all three made a short trip to feast on classic fish ‘n chips by the Wells’ quayside, replete with the company of seagulls, gentle lapping waves and children crabbing.

The race was won by pro Triathlete Malachi Cashmore in 35:23 (who would go on to also win the Gravel Sprint and 70.3 Half Triathlon in a stunning weekend) and leading Lady was Cassie Moden of West Norfolk AC in a time of 42:06.
