Bolsover 10K

Sunday 9th February was foggy, grey and cold. Thankfully the wind held off providing ideal running conditions for the 923 participants in the Bolsover 10K. Three members of GRC embarked on a road race that was well attended and supported by the local community.

Starting in the enchanting grounds of Bolsover Castle, the undulating course was organised by North Derby Runners, having been postponed from December following the winter storms.

Mark Toms was first of the black and lime to return back to the castle, finishing in 47:54 only 1s away from his Oundle 10k time recorded in January.

Next in was Paul Jepson, who has was visiting for the third year running, finishing in 51:44, beating his 2023 time of 52:33.

Last home was Susan Copping, who was completing the event for the first time, finishing in 53:01, which was 13s away from her PB set last year at Lincoln 10k.

All enjoyed the views from the castle at the finish but were more thrilled to get back into the warmth! A well run and supported event that has the potential for PB running, even with the elevation gain.

First male finisher was Mansfield Harriers’ Kristian Watson in 32.37. Whilst first female finisher, also from Mansfield Harriers, was Hayley Gill in 36.33.
