July 2025 – Andrew Goddard & Marj Spendlow

The month of July saw GRC represented 138 times. 76 of those performances came in the GRC 5k race held at Turnor Road. The Grand Prix series continued with races at Whissendine and Heckington, alongside the GRC 5k. July also saw the conclusion of the Peterborough 5k series with races at both Werrington and Empingham.

The LWAC 5k held its 3rd event of the series, and there were also 5k’s to be had at Newstead Abbey, and the sunrise 5K in Nottingham for those who fancied an early start.

Nominees
Rob Howbrook has been nominated for his efforts in the Peterborough 5k series. During July, Rob achieved age grades of 77% and 78% in the 2 events. Over the whole series Rob finished in 2nd place in the 65-69 age category. Rob also raced the Whissendine 6 road race achieving a 72% age grading.

Rachel Hamilton James Hamilton has been nominated for her performance in the Lincs Wellington 5k series. Rachel achieved a new personal best of 20:34 which gave her an impressive age grading of 73.54%.

Runner up
Matt Fryer recently returned to more consistent training and this paid dividends in the GRC 5k. Matt gained a new personal best and his first ever sub 20 time coming home in 19:30. This achieved him the silver standard age grading for the first time.

July saw a tie for the top spot…..drum roll please

Our first winner is Andrew Goddard who put in a very impressive performance in the GRC 5K, crossing the line in 18:42 and giving him a very respectable 78.87% age grading, finishing in the top 10.

The next winner of July’s Member of the Month is Marj Spendlow. Marj had very a busy month competing in 4 races with highlights including a new 5K PB at the LWAC race, a 46k Ultra Race at the Rasselbock 6 hour challenge and also a 10 mile PB in Heckington!
