Lincolnshire XC League Fixture 2 – Stroxton

Stroxton near Grantham was the venue for fixture two of the Lincolnshire Cross Country League.
Following the previous day’s continuous rain everyone was expecting similar weather and a wet and muddy course. Fortunately, the gods looked kindly on us and provided a two hour window of sunny, although slightly windy weather. Jointly organised by Grantham Athletic Club and Grantham Running Club, the testing course around undulating farmland provided plenty of challenges including a couple of very wet and muddy patches.

The men raced first over a distance of 8.64K. GRC’s men each put in a great effort with Jake Richardson leading from the start. In form Flash was hot on Jake’s tail and the pair of them finished with a sizable lead. The results for the men were as follows:

1st – Jake Richardson – 33.02
2nd – Flash – 33.18
5th – Sam Jepson – 37.47
6th – Riley Maksymiw – 38.00
7th – Piers Pye-Watson – 38.35
10th – Rusell Maksymiw – 42.16
11th – Jason Blair – 42.48
12th – Peter Jennings – 43.23

For the ladies, Sarah High got a good start in the 6K race and maintained a consistent pace to finish first for GRC. Strong performances were also put in by cross country stalwarts Caroline Davis and Michelle Parczuk.

Our results were:
2nd – Sarah High – 34.43
7th – Caroline Davis – 36.50
8th – Michelle Parczuk – 37.13

The next fixture in the Lincolnshire League is the County Championships on Sunday 4th January which is always a good event to take part in.
